  • Saturday, 04/28/2007- Rebuilding Together: A team of Brown staff, students and faculty gathered to refurbish Bannister House at 157 Dodge Street in Providence. Bannister House is a 4 story nursing home for low income elderly. The day included interior painting, clean-up of the surrounding grounds, and recarpeting of the house's chappel.
  • Tuesday, 04/24/2007-  Engineering Hustle. Get to know the Brown Engineering Faculty outside of the classroom. Rotate through short discussions with engineering faculty, driven by student questions.  
  • Saturday, 3/10/2007- Nayatt Giant Science Fair (K-3). Students from SWE and WiSE students presented 2 hands-on exhibits - one on Windmills and one on Perceptions.
  • Saturday, 3/3/2007-Girl Scout Senior Leadership Conference Salve Regina, Newport, RI
  • National Engineers Week 2007 @ Brown February 18-24
    • Wednesday, 2/21  Kick off Dinner with CISCO and Speaker on Recycling
    • Thursday, 2/22 Engineering as Art Photography Show with EWB
    • Friday, 2/23 Elevator Pitch Competition on the RI Wireless Initiative
    • Saturday, 2/24 Recyclable Materials Competition Outreach Event : Group of Brown and RISE students worked together creatively to build a functional product from recycled materials, including a unique material provided by Akzo Nobel. Teams of four competed for prizes !!!
  • Monday, 02/12/2007- SWE General Body Meeting. Come make your own Brownie Sundaes while learning about the events and projects planned for this semester.
  • Saturday, 02/17/2007- Be an Engineer Event at Providence Children's Museum. A great mentoring event for college students, especially Brown since it will be held right in Providence!! Help teach kids about engineering and kick off National Engineers Week at the same time! There are five hands-on engineering activity stations that need to be run: mechanical (pulley systems), electrical (conductivity), chemical (oobleck), software (programming the human robot – you!) and civil (building a tower).
  • Monday,12/11/2006- Take a well deserved break and come join other SWE members for a fun Study Break Social.
  • Saturday, 12/2/2006- Leadership Modules: Leadership Styles and Finding Your Inner Leaderand How to Prevent Leadership Burnout
  • Coffee Hour with Christopher Creed of Goldman Sachs for SWE and NSBE students in the B&H lobby.
  • Monday, 11/14/2006: Interested in PAID summer research? Come and listen to representatives from the Leadership Alliance, UTRA and REU, who will talk about opportunities at Brown and beyond. We'll have PIZZA too ;)

  • Morgan Stanley Undergraduate Women’s Day is an evening and a day event providing current sophomore and junior female undergraduate students with an introduction to Morgan Stanley and its Summer Analyst opportunities in Finance, Fixed Income, Global Capital Markets, Institutional Equity, Investment Banking, Investment Management, Operations, Prime Brokerage, Securities Lending, and Technology.   • Friday, 10/27/2006 - Free screening of a documentary on Harlem Youth called The Perfect Life.After 10 years, a teacher (Sam Lee) - turned filmmaker- returns to Harlem to find the kids she taught in second grade. The result is a documentary about five student's journey toward adulthood, juxtaposing current teenage experiences with moving scenes from their childhood Screening followed by interactive discussion with director and editor of The Perfect Life, Sam Lee.

For 26 years, Sponsors for Education Opportunity has offered mentored internships to outstanding students of color (Black, Hispanic/ Latino, Asian and Native American). Info session presented by Tonya Gayle, Director of Career Program SEO. Hosted by SWE and NSBE.
