 The Girls Math and Science Initiative: offers intensive science education for middle school girls at Sophia Academy. Brown volunteers work weekly with girls in 5th through 8th grade to introduce girls to the hard sciences (chemistry and physics) through experiential and interdiciplinary activities.  Rhode Islanders Sponsoring Education (RISE):  RISE is a 501(c) 3 orgaziation that  provides educational opportunities and mentoring to children of incarcerated parents. Mentoring opportunities available.

  AS220 Broad Street: is a transitional arts program that employs and engages Rhode Island youth, but focuses secifically on those recently released from the state's juvenile detention facility, the Rhode Island Training School (R.I.T.S),and those under the wing of the Department of Children, Youth and Families.  UTRA: Undergraduate Teachingand Research Awards: (Brown University Program) The program provides opportunities for collaborative work between students and faculty members and allows students to gain insights into the structure of academic work in a particular field.

 Sponsors for Education Opportunity: SEO is a non-profit organization started in 1963 that recruits, trains, and places outstanding college students of color in a substantive 10-week long summer internship. 

 The Leadership Alliance: The Leadership Alliance is a consortium of 31 of this nation's leading research and teaching academic institutions dedicated to improving the participation of underserved and underrepresented students in graduate studies and Ph.D. programs and, ultimately, research professions in the academic, public and private sectors. The Leadership Alliance facilitates a summer research early identification program, offers workshops and fellowships, and hosts an annual national symposium.
